Day 11

Shanghai

Shanghai is what many say is the future for China. It is a new city by Chinese standards (only 300 years old). The financial district where all the huge scrapers are located only started construction there only 30 years ago.

We went up Pearl TV Tower to get a view of Shanghai. The Pearl tower is 1,535 ft tall so we got some sweet photos of Shanghai.

We then went to the silk factory and learned they manufactured silk. I knew that silk was unique but I didn't know how tough silk was. It amazing that they were able to figure out how to manufacture silk so long ago.

In the evening we saw the famous changing mask performance. It was very impressive and very short (10 mins). And the performer preformed among the audience, changing the mask right in front of you. I think I know how they changed it so fast but I will keep that secret.

We visited BTU which is a company that makes custom machines heat treat electronic components and circuit boards. BTU supports the fellowship program and the employees there were very welcoming. We had a private lunch with managers and had some very good food.

On our last night, we took a boat tour of Shanghai on Huangpu river. All the sky scrapers are lit up at night so you can see all the buildings and get a light show.
